Day Thirteen - Ottawa - LOVE IT!!!!!

Forget about your financial capital, we're in Ottawa now. The political capital, the place where it all happens (really?) - and where all our money flows to.  We decided to come and see if they are putting it to good use.

But first, a huge hooray for the The Albert at Bay Suites.  Our best hotel stay yet!  What a find.  It's also our most expensive at $228 but for that we have a luxury suite with King bed, kitchen, bathroom with jacuzzi tub, living room, dining room and, best of all, a guest laundry just down the hall.  Some pics:
And it's right downtown, a short walk to Parliament Hill, the Rideau Canal, and the Byward market. A bit better than South Baymouth eh?

Our day started with the usual NASCAR race up the Don Valley Parkway and then east on the 401.  But this time we had an escape plan.  Just past Bowmanville we turned northeast on 115, the Algonquin Trail. Way better!  We were moving almost as fast but through beautiful country with no traffic.  Through Peterborough and the Kawartha Lakes, this was a very relaxing 450km up to Ottawa.

Tonight we took a walk to see all the attractions I mentioned above and had a terrific dinner at Mambo Latino in the Byward Market. I think the market area is even bigger than I remembered. The has never been here before and we were both blown away by the size and vitality of this entertainment district. It even has a bikers comer - look what we found.

Before dinner we took a tour of Parliament.

The made herself useful on the tour!
And here's the Senate chamber, look, nothing is happening!  What are the odds of that?
And a stroll by the Rideau Canal

There is just so much to see and do here. A week wouldn't do it justice.

Oh, by the way, no rain again today although it has clouded over.  Looks like our luck is about to run out again for the next few days.  Where shall we go next?
