Day Eighteen - A brand new province!

All too infrequently in life, and nothing like as often as we need or deserve, we are rewarded for persevering through some adversity.  Today was such a day.

Moncton, determined to live up to its dull reputation to the end, was grey and overcast.  But even it couldn't quite conceal what was to come.  A glorious sunny day!

Firstly big thanks to Toys for Big Boys who topped off our oil at the start of the day.  The Goldwing had burned only a few drops in close to 7,000 km but now we're full to the top again.

Now for part 2 of our quiz, (Scott and Cucci are tied for the lead!)  - which town is home to the largest lobster IN THE WORLD? (Answers at the end).  Our first stop for the day.  We were in search of it anyway but an overturned tractor trailer on the highway forced everyone to detour past it.  This is a really nice area just reinforcing our belief that New Brunswick's attractions are outside the major cities.

Next came the Confederation Bridge - the longest bridge over ice covered waters IN THE WORLD! Not our picture, we couldn't get this angle, but its 13km long!

And then we were on PEI.  This province is fantastic!  Sure, the sun was shining and no doubt that helped, but the island is beautiful, clean, food is phenomenal, scenery great - just can't say enough about the place.  We're staying in Charlottetown tonight but decided to go first to Summerside and then take the central coastal drive out to the Atlantic side as a circle route to Charlottetown.  And finally there are decent coffee bars again, really missed these in Quebec/NB.

Here is us dipping our toes in the Atlantic!
Beautiful beaches
Tonight we are in Charlottetown staying at the Hotel on Pownal which is a lovely boutique hotel right downtown.  FYI this is what Blueberry White beer looks like

And we just had the best (non home cooked) meal of our entire trip at the Claddagh Oyster House.  Fantastic food!

Quiz part two - name a third wine producing province of Canada - not BC or Ontario. Hint, we had some white tonight and it was very nice.

So, tomorrow we're off on the ferry to Nova Scotia and hope to be in Sydney tomorrow night.  We're thinking of going to Newfoundland first before exploring NS.  Wednesday looks bad again and we're thinking we may as well spend it on a ferry.  Will that be a good decision?

Our answers:

And of course PEI wine - who knew?
